Idoma
born engineer, Mr. John Enoh is set to launch Africa’s first $1 Smartphone with
the Idoma code name “Oyi 1”. Oyi 1 is
to be launched by BeepTool in Nigeria in the last week of October.

In a
chat with FREEDOM SUNRISE NEWS, Mr Enoh disclosed that the smartphone comes
with extra battery and a free 1GB data monthly plan as well as important apps, noting
that to be eligible for one, applicant must not earn more than fifteen thousand
naira per month.

The BeepTool Smartphone sustainably
funded $1 Smartphone generates advertising, survey and data revenue for
investors and stakeholders. These fees are used to cover the true cost of the
Smartphone. The smartphone is to Enable Sustainable & Profitable Poverty
Alleviation by connecting underprivileged Africans to the Digital Economy in
Africa.
