The 171 are among the list of 2,600 inmates pardoned by the Federal Government.

It could be recalled that the governor had earlier granted amnesty to 46 inmates in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 212(i)(b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, said Fintiri’s decision is in consonance with the Federal Government’s effort to decongest some of the overcrowded Correctional Centres, in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
