Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, has formally defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He announced his defection to the party at the state secretariat of the party in Benin City, Edo State.
His defection comes days after he was disqualified by his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) by the party’s screening committee for the Edo governorship primaries on June 12th.
As a result of that, he officially decamped from the party some days ago after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari at the state House, Abuja.
He said “I have officially joined the Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria to advance my ambition to seek re-election as Governor of Edo State.
“I, as always, remain committed to engendering good governance and sustainable development of our dear state.”
Recall that the PDP had on Friday shifted the date for the conduct of its primary election from 20th to 23th of this month.
