Ahead of the commencement of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has asked the Super Eagles of Nigeria to ensure they bring home the trophy from the continental showpiece.
He said both the coach and the players and management of the national team have no reason to disappoint the country.
Shehu Sani premised his call on the payment of N12 billion Super Eagles’ outstanding debt by the federal government.
This was contained in a terse tweet on his official X handle on Sunday.
He commended the gesture of the government and described it as “unprecedented.”
Continuing, Shehu Sani wrote, “The Super Eagles must bring home the Cup.@thenff.”

The AFCON takes place in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
Some of the biggest names in world football will feature at the tournament.
This includes African player of the year for 2023, Victor Osimhen, Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane, Serhou Guirassy, and Achraf Hakimi.
